New Standards in Patient Transport: What Does 2026 Bring?
Technology keeps advancing, and so does the quality of medical transport. Read about innovations we are implementing for your greater safety.
The year 2026 brings significant changes to the field of medical transport. New EU legislation tightens requirements for ambulance vehicle equipment and staff qualifications, with particular emphasis on patient safety during transport and the crew’s ability to respond to sudden health complications. These standards came into force on 1 January 2026, and all medical transport providers are required to comply with them.
Meditrans welcomed these changes with open arms and began working on their implementation during 2025. All our vehicles underwent thorough technical inspections and were equipped with modern monitoring systems enabling real-time tracking of the patient’s vital signs. Our paramedics and drivers completed extended first aid and crisis management training to be prepared for any situation.
For patients, these changes mean greater comfort and safety throughout the entire transport process. Each vehicle is now equipped with individually controlled air conditioning, a hydraulic lift for easy boarding and alighting, and a communication system enabling direct contact with the destination medical facility. We believe that these innovations will elevate the standard of patient care to a qualitatively new level.
