Cooperation with Health Insurance Companies

An overview of insurance companies we work with and how medical transport reimbursement works.

Medical transport is in most cases covered by health insurance, provided it is prescribed by a doctor and meets the legal conditions. Meditrans currently cooperates with all Czech health insurance companies, including VZP, OZP, VoZP, ZPMVCR, CPZP, RBP, and ZPS. This means that if you have a doctor’s prescription, you do not need to pay anything for the transport — all costs are invoiced directly to the insurance company.

The conditions for covered transport are precisely defined by Act No. 48/1997 Coll. and the regulations of the relevant ministries. Generally, the insurance company covers transport when the patient’s health condition does not allow the use of any other mode of transport and the prescribing doctor confirms this in writing. In practice, this means that for covered transport you need a referral from your doctor, which our dispatchers verify before planning the transport.

If you do not meet the conditions for covered transport, we also offer self-pay services at transparent, pre-agreed prices. In that case, we will be happy to provide you with an exact cost estimate before booking. Our goal is to make access to medical transport as straightforward as possible for you and your loved ones, and our dispatchers are always ready to help you navigate the insurance reimbursement system.
